Vin Diesel Facts

1. The Very Beginning

Vin Diesel was born together with his twin brother Paul in 1967 in California. Their biological father left their mother before they were ever born. They were raised by his mom and stepfather instead.

2. Mystery Ethnicity

Vin Diesel’s skintone looks white, but many people say that his nose and other features resemble traditional African-American facial structure. Since he never met his biological father, he doesn’t know exactly what ethnicity he is, aside from his mom’s background. His mother is not really sure what his dad was either, since she probably never asked him during their short-term relationship. However, she told him that he is definitely not totally white. His stepfather is also African American, so Diesel has been quoted saying, “I am definitely a person of color.”

3. On Stage

Vin’s step-father was the local High School’s drama teacher. This meant that he encouraged the boys to get involved in acting. Vin was already in his first play by the time he was 7 years old, which gave him the inspiration to continue acting. He once told Entertainment Weekly that even as a young kid, he knew he would be a movie star some day.

His twin brother Paul was also influenced by growing up in the acting scene. He ended up becoming a professional film editor. If you were wondering, they are actually fraternal twins, so they don’t look alike at all.
