No one knows for sure why Holmes walked away from her role as Rachel Dawes in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. On missing out on a chance to play Dawes in the critically acclaimed box office smash The Dark Knight, Holmes says she has no regrets. As she said, ""You know, I really enjoyed working on the first one and I wish I could have worked with Chris Nolan again," Holmes said. On April 18th, 2006, Holmes gives birth to her daughter Suri Cruise in a silent birth. Silent or quiet births were recommended by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, and are common among Scientology's practitioners. As the practice outlines, in a silent birth "everyone attending the birth should refrain from spoken words as much as possible" and "... chatty doctors and nurses, shouts to 'PUSH, PUSH' and loud or laughing remarks to 'encourage' are avoided." Scientologists believe that any spoken words could negatively affect both mother and child.
