When it came to naming the band, Mick Mars had the winning ticket. He proposed “Mötley Crüe” because it was the name of his favorite song that he played with his former band, White Horse. Nikki Sixx had actually proposed the band be named “

Christmas,” and then he changed his mind to “X-Mas.” Going to Mars’ idea was probably for the best.
